I restored a wallet recently that I have not used in years. Back then, it was only Bitcoin, but at some point Ethereum was added. So now I see all my Bitcoin tx, but on top of that the Ethereum part of the wallet (which I never used) shows transactions that someone else must have performed.

Any idea what's happened there?

  • What software/wallet provider is this about? – Pieter Wuille Feb 17 at 19:19

According to this link: https://media.mycelium.com/2020/01/31/mycelium-wallet-to-support-eth/

Mycelium supports few other cryptocurrencies now.

So now I see all my Bitcoin tx, but on top of that the Ethereum part of the wallet (which I never used) shows transactions that someone else must have performed.

Not sure why did this happen.

What can be done to resolve this or use Bitcoin in a better way?

  1. Create an issue in https://github.com/mycelium-com/wallet-android/issues

  2. Use better Bitcoin Wallets. Example: Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Wasabi, Specter, Bluewallet, Samourai etc. How to restore wallet with your backup: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/61401/

  • Thanks, of course I contacted support right away. But I will open an issue at github. I have no problem as I have no funds in this wallet. I use enjin for mobile stuff, I heard they avoided all the usual old sources for wallet code, which apparently contained bugs sometimes, and built everything from scratch. I just want to make sure that people are aware (I could miss something of course, I'm not a crypto noob but no cryptography expert either, far from it) – dgst Feb 17 at 21:45
  • Yeah it looks weird. Can you share a screenshot and hide or blur the things that shouldn't be public? – Prayank Feb 17 at 21:59
  • there is not much to see... but I opened an issue here, which is maybe more detailed github.com/mycelium-com/wallet-android/issues/585 The address that is not mine is 0xfaBa97092A524ccEA09Bf9CE8bCce82963517b89 – dgst Feb 17 at 22:02
