I have downloaded and installed hardware wallet interface, here is the output that I'm getting from ./hwi.py enumerate:

What is the problem here? It is supposed to tell me the device type and device path, but instead this is what I am getting.

  • Seems to be working this morning. How do you retrieve the balance on your hardware wallet? There doesn't seem to be a command for this after using the --help option.

That error means that don't have permission to access the USB device associated with your hardware wallet (which is why using the sudo prefix "works").

Assuming you're running on linux (and subscribe to the principle of least privilege), you'll want to follow the instructions in hwilib/udev/README.md to instruct udev to grant your user ID access.
