I am developing a Bitcoin mining pool . I am using getBlockTemple to get from Bitcoin node, the template including the transactions and default witness commitment. I am using the following options when calling getBlockTemplate

"options": {
        "rules": [
          "segwit"
        ],
        "capabilities": [
          "longpoll",
          "coinbasetx",
          "workid",
          "coinbase/append"
        ]
      }

My question is how does Bitcoin 0.16 affect mining pool (if at all), especially the introduction of BIP173 (Bech32)

  • In what way would an address type be related to mining pool software? Apart from payouts, it doesn't deal with addresses at all. For payouts, you can choose to support Bech32 or not in the pool, independently from whether the full node software you're using supports it. – Pieter Wuille Jun 8 '18 at 0:16
  • There are several mining pool projects like NOMP, MPOS, and CoiniumServ, are you developing it from scratch? BTW @PieterWuille is the author of BIP173 :) – JBaczuk Jun 8 '18 at 2:26
