Many 'stats/charts' sites are reporting trade volumes, without ever specifying which trade volume they are referring to:

• Number of Sent Bitcoins / 24h (Transaction Volume)
• Number of Bitcoins sent to a Bitcoin/USD/EUR/etc exchange. (Trade Volume)

I'm trying to gauge exactly what both BTC volumes are using sites like CoinMarketCap, but I can't tell whether the USD Trade Volume figures are for the number of BTC exchanged for USD/EUR/etc or simply a dollar-conversion for the total number of BTC sent to any address over 24h.

Any help?
